My name is Bonnie McIntosh. I’m a nurse in Orlando, Florida. I work in the emergency department as a staff nurse for the VA. We serve veterans of all ages in a new facility.
I’m passionate about nursing in general and emergency nursing in particular. I belong to the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA), and I’m active at the state and local levels. I’ve served as secretary of my local chapter (GOENA) for several years, and I’m on a state work group for the 2015 national convention in Orlando coming in October 2015. I also serve as a delegate from the state of Florida at the ENA General Assembly held each year before the conference.
I like to volunteer at our local elementary school as well as large marathons held at Disney World. Recently, I combined my talent for sewing and a need for aprons for the school’s cafeteria workers by making aprons for all the workers. At the marathons I provide support for the runners as a member of the medical team in the critical care areas.
I like going to conferences about emergency medicine. Not only has this enriched my knowledge in this field, but it has also allowed me to travel all over the United States. I’ve enjoyed traveling to meet new people from different cultures and backgrounds.
I’ve had pets my whole life. Currently I have a cat who’s a spry 20 year old and loves catnip. My dog is a German Shepherd rescued from Oklahoma. He has many medical problems including epilepsy and degenerative myelopathy, but he’s still a loving friend and companion to me and Kitty.
